Show "New Features" window on major upgrades of Gnome desktop / enable new features on major upgrades of Gnome desktop
User upgrades distro which upgrades Gnome to the next major version. He hasn't read release notes or knows nothing about the new version, he might miss or not even have the new features enabled in his configuration.
Real example: I upgrade from gnome 3.26 to 3.28 and saw no star column in nautilus. Had to enable that column manually (or choose defaults)
a) Either show a welcoming screen for major releases of Gnome; b) alternatively, but not ideal, "force" new configurations (features) onto the user so they are discoverable.
Benefits of the solution
a) User learns of new features in his upgraded desktop; b) User discovers new features in his upgraded desktop.
a) User is forced upon to see/watch/read something before using the system. Could be aleviated with a well designed, illustrated and skippable "new features" screen. b) The ground is changed beneath users feet; Less trust in Gnome desktop (since Gnome would forcibly mess with users current workflow).
