Typing a dot should start filename completion (like / or ~), not search
Hidden files in Unix start with a dot. This is specially important for .config, a frequently accessed directory. I don't see the point of starting the tracker search while typing a dot, this dot is probably ignored or given low relevance by the content searcher, while it's a clear signal that one probably wants to edit a hidden file or directory.
