Properties window cleanups

António Fernandes requested to merge wip/antoniof/properties-follow-cleanups into main

This is a follow-up to changes in Properties made in !1347 (merged), and also the introduction of g_set_str() there, which finds a fitting place in nautilus-file.c

Also effectively a legacy from desktop-icons handling.
