Thumbnails in list view

In version 3.27.92 thumbnails for the second smallest list view were removed. Can we, please, have it back? I think I've found it useful. Can it be an option at least? There is already an option for file size limit for the generation of the thumbnails. There could conceivably be an option for the threshold list view size.
