Modifying file extensions when bulk renaming files has a chance to break selection, file ordering, and/or hide list items until refresh
Affected Version
- Version: 45.2.1, 46.rc- dd219cb8
- Distribution: ChimeraOS
- Also happens with development version: Yes
Steps to reproduce
- Fill a folder with many unique files of the same type, for example videos, PDFs, etc
- Select all files and bulk rename them by pressing F2 or right clicking
- Rename all periods (
.
) with a space ( ) - There is about a 25% chance the first time you do this, about half the files seemingly disappear, and most of the files are de-selected, requiring a reload and re-selection
Expected Behavior
Files should simply rename, and the selection should not change.
Actual Behavior
Selection breaks, files (visually) disappear, and (I think) ordering sometimes breaks.
Additional Information
Notes: See how before renaming, I had 47 items when I selected all. Now, I only have 44 items afterwards, meaning 3 items are not being displayed. Also, all the items were de-selected.
