Nautilus search not working
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: No
- Other: Ubuntu 22.10, Files (nautilus) v43.0
Steps to reproduce
- Run nautilus either from Activities, Pinned Icon click or from terminal.
- Go to directory, for example 'Documents'
- Start typing the search string.
- If a single letter/symbol is typed the search seems to work but if more than one symbol is entered the search 'sits and spins' so the 'searching' notification appears in the bottom right corner along with a spinning activity indicator next to it. This sometimes sit for a few minutes and finds spits out results other times way beyond that to the point it is just shut down.
ubuntu 22.10, Nautilus search not working, when opening a directory the files and folders display instantaneously as expected, as normal I start typing the name of the file/folder I am interested in. If I type in only one letter the search seems to work instantly, but if I type in the second letter of the search string the search just sits and spins. I have experimented with it and if I leave it for some time (multiples of minutes) it will eventually find what I have searched for.
Current behavior
After opening nautilus and selecting a directory, typing in a search string results in a long wait with the 'searching' notification (in the bottom right corner) along with a blank window and a spinning activity indicator. Note: if a single letter or symbol is entered the search will give results immediately, anything more than a single symbol results in the above behaviour.
Expected behavior
After opening nautilus and selecting a directory, it is expected that upon typing in a search string nautilus finds the relative files and directories almost immediately.
