Consider a model-based replacement for Nautilus.LocationWidgetProvider
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: Can't test it because I don't have enough free space on my hard drive.
- Other: Nautilus 43.2-1, Archlinux
Steps to reproduce
- Install the extension at https://github.com/climaxx/Nautilus-Status-Bar-Replacement/ inside
~/.local/share/nautilus-python/extensions/
- start nautilus from the cmdline
- see that the extension fails with the message :
AttributeError: 'gi.repository.Nautilus' object has no attribute 'LocationWidgetProvider'
Current behavior
The remaining size on the current disk is not shown in Nautilus.
Expected behavior
The remaining size on the current disk should be shown.
Additional information
I restored this functionality many times, and each time a new breaking change came and removed it. This time I found a nautilus-python tutorial that's 3 months old ; it's already outdated because Nautilus.LocationWidgetProvider
is deprecated. I then found this migration guide that says I should ask for "a model-based API for [this] specific use-case". So here I am. Is it possible to provide an API to show an information in a status bar ? I promise I'll use it :-)
