Folder sharing does not work
Hi! So I've recently been trying to approach the file manager from the perspective of a new linux user and I found out that doing folder sharing the easy way does not work (see screenshot below). Not sure if I should be posting here but the nautilus-share from gitlab has already been archived.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a folder inside ~/ and give it a simple name
- Right click the folder > properties > share tab
- Tick all checkboxes in the share tab
Current behavior
The folder share fails to complete and spits out an error. The following below is taken from journalctl
Called "net usershare add" but it failed: 'net usershare' returned error 255: [2021/11/11 11:23:39, 0] ../../lib/util/debug.c:1108(reopen_one_log)
reopen_one_log: Unable to open new log file 'share/log.net': No such file or directory
net usershare add: share name /home/dutch/documents/share contains invalid characters (any of %<>*?|/\+=;:",)
Expected behavior
Folder is shared
Software info
- openSUSE Tumbleweed
- GNOME 41.1
- nautilus-share 0.7.3-18.1
- nautilus 41.1-1.1
- samba 4.15.0+git.185.378416e547c-1.3
Additional information
My custom samba config on the otherhand has worked flawlessly. I have also tried chmod 777
on the directory I'm planning to share but it spits out the same error.
