Folder contents scroll down as thumbnails are generated in icon view
This is a teenager bug that's been with Nautilus for a long time, every detail can be found in the previous records. Here's the old bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143817 by Maciej Katafiasz
Affected version
- Every version in the last 16 years
Steps to reproduce
- In icon view, open folder with many images (without cached thumbnails)
- Quickly scroll to arbitrary location in folder
- Wait as thumbnails are generated
Current behavior
When you scroll down or jump further down nautilus starts scrolling up automatically. And there is no way to stop this. This also hinders the thumbnail generation for the files that are in view because the "viewport" always changes.
Expected behavior
It should scroll normally as if there were no files to thumbnail or thumbnailing were disabled. Maybe the best way to achieve this could be to have each thumbnail be the same height regardless of the aspect ratio of the image being thumbnailed.
