Samba Host Discovery using WS-Discovery
Use cases
Providing GNOME Files (Nautilus) with support for the WS-Discovery protocol, similar to what KDE's Dolphin (20.04.0+) now has.
Desired behavior
Windows hosts enumerated (similar to the deprecated NetBIOS method) when such hosts advertise via the WS-Discovery protocol (via port 3702 TCP and UDP) within a SMB2/SMB3 environment. Dolphin already utilizes Avahi for Linux/Mac samba hosts, and now WS-Discovery for Windows hosts. Gnome Files could easily inherit the same functionality
Benefits of the solution
Easier discovery of samba hosts within LANs
Possible drawbacks
None
