3440x1440 resolution is missing for HP 34C external monitor (HDMI)
On the regular Ubuntu desktop I use an .xprofile with xrandr commands that add the monitors native resolution as follows:
xrandr --newmode "3440x1440" 196.25 3440 3600 3952 4464 1440 1443 1453 1468 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "3440x1440"
Unfortunately this doesn't work under wayland and I have not yet found a solution. I have tried several ideas including a custom edid bin file without success.
I'm reporting against the gnome-control-center since this corresponds to the end user experience but I'm pretty sure there is a kernel issue involved since the .xprofile was not necessary on kernel 4.4 and earlier.
I would be grateful for any guidance on how I may help get this issue fixed.
My environment is Ubuntu 19.04, Dell XPS 9530 laptop, HP 34c external monitor (HDMI)
Steps to reproduce:
- Open GNOME Settings
- Attempt to set the external monitor resolution to 3440x1440 (it's native resolution)
