Auto raise of new documents/files in already open windows is broken (at least on wayland)
How to recreate
I assume that gedit is the default text editor and we're not on Xorg
create 2 simple text files
echo "text1" > ~/textfile1.txt
echo "text2" > ~/textfile2.txt
- now open gnome-files, navigate to that directory (if you have to)
- open the first file
- minimize gedit
- open the secound file
what happens now
The first file will launch gedit in the foreground, like it should be. right after that ou minimize the window and open the secound file. It will be opened, but gedit will stay minimized. So as a user you dont have any hint that the file is actually open now. The same thing happens to gnome-web, gnome-software, maybe more.
Same thing is when the windows is in the background, not minimized, just in the background. There is no raise at all.
What i expect
Any new file should raise the window, so the user can see that the file is open now
This is on Arch with latest stable Gnome 3.30.x
