replace GTK specific Wayland protocols by mainstream protocols
mutter defines a couple of custom Wayland protocols, namely gtk
, gtk_text_input
and gtk_primary_selection
.
While gtk_text_input
and gtk_primary_selection
seem to be based on, or inspired by, text_input_unstable_v3
and wp_primary_selection_unstable_v1
respectively, the gtk
protocol is very opaque and it is not clear how it should be used or what the expected behaviour is.
Is there interest to replace those GTK specific protocols by their mainstream pendant and get features of the gtk
protocol merged into xdg_shell
? I.e. would you accept MR that replace the GTK specific protocols or are there plans for mutter-GTK specific features that are not applicable to other compositors and toolkits?
