Support for frog-color-management-v1-client-protocol for VK_hdr_layer support like KWin
Hi,
gnome wayland already supports toggling HDR..
To switch to hdr mode use:
global.compositor.backend.get_monitor_manager().experimental_hdr = 'on'
next step seems implementing the frog-color-management-v1 protocol so VK_hdr_layer (https://github.com/Zamundaaa/VK_hdr_layer) can be used
kwin support was added here:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/4589/commits
using this layer (with export ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1) exposes new VK_EXT_hdr_metadata on Vulkan devices..
using on gnome wayland session I see:
"[HDR Layer] wayland compositor lacking frog color management protocol.."
currently supports:
1)native Wayland Vulkan HDR apps like Quake II RTX..
2)Wine Wayland 9.0 :"Wine's native wayland mode supports HDR through DXVK."
3)ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 and run mpv with --vo=gpu-next --target-colorspace-hint --gpu-api=vulkan --gpu-context=waylandvk
