Applications Cannot Take Keyboard Focus Anymore
Affected version
Fedora 37 Beta (Wayland)
Mutter Version: 43.0
Bug summary
Upon updating to the Fedora 37 Beta (and GNOME 43), I immediately discovered that Remmina was no longer capturing keyboard events and passing them into my remote RDP sessions. This has a profound impact on my ability to work remotely, as Remmina is the only real GTK application with the ability to read .rdp
files.
Steps to reproduce
- Log into GNOME using Wayland
- Open Remmina and enable grabbing keyboard events
- Press the "Super" key
What happened
Mutter interpreted the "Super" key press and did not allow Remmina to grab it instead.
What did you expect to happen
I expected Mutter to allow Remmina to grab the "Super" key's keyboard event.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
I can see the following note in the "NEWS" file of Mutter 43.alpha
. I don't know if it's relevant or not, though this issue didn't exist on my system when I was running GNOME/Mutter 42:
- Do not allow windows to steal focus when the shell has a grab [Carlos; !2433 (merged)]
