Crash when starting External Video Capture in in meta_window_update_for_monitors_changed
Affected version
NixOS 22.05
42.1
It appears in Both Wayland and Xorg, but is more consistent in Wayland
Bug summary
When I begin a video capture using my Cheap (more on this in a moment) USB Capture Card, there's a decently high chance that gnome-shell
will crash back to GDM. The card identifies as a 534d:2109 MacroSilicon USB Video
, and it sits on the HDMI cable between the Monitor and the PC, connecting via USB back to the PC.

Steps to reproduce
- Install Capture Device
- Open OBS or any other software capable of video capture
- Gnome probably crashes to GDM. Might take more than 1 launch.
What happened
Crash to GDM
What did you expect to happen
Realistically Nothing, The capture should be passive from Gnome's perspective.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
This doesn't have debugging symbols, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get them with Gnome in NixOS. I'll update if I figure it out.
