Unlocked screen content briefly flickers after wake up from suspend when suspended via closing the lid under Wayland

Bug summary
The unlocked screen content sometimes briefly flickers after wake up from suspend, when suspended via closing the lid (without locking the screen) under Wayland.
This happens approx. 30% of the time. It didn't happen before upgrading to a 5.16 kernel IIRC.
Steps to reproduce
- Close the lid without locking the screen
- Wait until the laptop suspended
- Reopen the lid
