Autorotation / tablet mode not working after suspend/hibernate
Affected version
Arch Linux, 3.38, Wayland
Bug summary
I have a a Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen, which is a convertible. I sometimes noticed that auto rotation and automatic on screen keyboard (which seems to be connected to tablet mode detection) do not work after wake up from suspend and/or hibernate. Now I was finally able to find a reliable way to reproduce this bug.
Steps to reproduce
- Fold the X1 into tablet mode
- Go to hibernate/suspend via the shutdown menu
- Fold the X1 back into laptop mode while it's powered of
- Turn on the X1 again
- (eventually fold back into tablet mode, just to show that onscreen keyboard does also not work)
- Now auto rotation and tablet mode detection do not work anymore
What happened
Screen rotation does not work and when in tablet mode onscreen keyboard is missing.
What did you expect to happen
I would except GNOME to notice the change back to laptop mode while it was sleeping and to still to auto rotation etc.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
There seems to be no relevant log in journalctl or dmesg.
