Using Meld behind a VPN

While using meld in the premises of my company, connecting by ssh to a VM, everything is perfect. However, while using meld outside my company and connecting by official VPN of my company, I observed no difference of behaviour for the gui tools I use except for meld: the tool opens and checks for differences for hours even though the 2 files to compare contain only one short line. So I am forced to use alternative tools for file or folder comparison when outside my company and it is a drawback because meld is the best tool. Are you aware of such an issue, ou should I report to the SI service of my company?
