Lower animation performance when switching to an image not opened yet compared to a previous image

Maybe this issue only appears on older hardware like mine:

  • Intel i5 - 5th Generation
  • 8 gb ram
  • 512 Gb SSD

The slide animation is super smooth in general when I use my touchpad. And it’s also quite smooth when using the keyboard or buttons. I only experience a bit of lag sometimes.

Using Loupe on a daily basis I noticed that the animation is always much smoother when navigating back to an image that has been shown before compared to when navigating to one that hasn’t been displayed yet. It doesn’t matter in which direction I move but only whether the image was displayed just before the current image.

I guess that images are already being preloaded in some way. I just wanted to file this issue because maybe there is still room for further performance improvements.
