More dialog style changes

Welp, had to revert the earlier commit - it doesn't work that well in dark.

We already have a similar problem with boxed lists, but it's worse here. I wonder if we should just vary it for light/dark, now that we have variables.

Also fix the hc outline, it got lost somewhere along the way.
