I had problems with the binding for ruby. One of the maintainers found out that it was a GTK-Bug and was kind enough to provide a patch which he asked me to do a merge request for (https://github.com/ruby-gnome/ruby-gnome/issues/1298#issuecomment-534886364). Voilà!
