Make vscode work

These are a bunch of changes that make VS Code work for me.

Well, almost, I still need to pass "-Dbackend_max_links=8" to my meson options or the MS linker will OOM my computer, but other than that, I have a working VS Code environment now - complete with ssh-enabled git.
