Local command line argument --help does not work

Description
With Evolution 3.22.5 (Fedora 25), running evolution --help or evolution --version while Evolution is already running on the desktop results in no output, and the command line instance exiting immediately.
$ evolution --version
$ evolution --help
$Version: 3.22.x
