gtk3-3.24.35 broke double click to maximize in many apps (regression from gtk3-3.24.34)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have gtk3-3.24.35 installed
  2. Run EOG (Eye of GNOME) or any other affected app (see below)
  3. Double click on the title bar to maximize it. Nothing happens. (The same problem when double clicking to unmaximize, nothing happens).
  4. Downgrade to gtk3-3.24.34
  5. Reopen EOG
  6. Double click on the title bar to maximize/unmaximize it, it works correctly.

Current behavior

Many apps can't be maximized by double clicking the title bar since upgrading to gtk3-3.24.35.

I found these apps to be affected:

  • eog
  • gnome-system-monitor
  • gnome-photos
  • simple-scan
  • gnome-boxes
  • gnome-connections
  • gnome-disks
  • evince
  • yelp

Other apps which I tested (the default apps in Fedora Workstation) are not affected.

Expected outcome

Apps listed above can be maximized by double-clicking the title bar.
