textview: Blinking with locale zh_CN.UTF-8
The following is for example reproducible with Gedit 40.1 or Mousepad 0.5.8, GTK 3.24.31 and GSV 4.8.2. But it is not reproducible with gnome-text-editor 41.1, GTK 4.6 and GSV 5.3.2 (nor with an experimental branch of Mousepad also using GTK 4 and GSV 5).
When the view contains enough indented text, e.g. this:
g_object_class_install_property (gobject_class,
PROP_PIXELS_ABOVE_LINES,
g_param_spec_int ("pixels-above-lines",
P_("Pixels Above Lines"),
P_("Pixels of blank space above paragraphs"),
0, G_MAXINT, 0,
GTK_PARAM_READWRITE|G_PARAM_EXPLICIT_NOTIFY));
g_object_class_install_property (gobject_class,
PROP_PIXELS_BELOW_LINES,
g_param_spec_int ("pixels-below-lines",
P_("Pixels Below Lines"),
P_("Pixels of blank space below paragraphs"),
0, G_MAXINT, 0,
GTK_PARAM_READWRITE|G_PARAM_EXPLICIT_NOTIFY));
and the window is large enough not to show the scrollbars, then when the text editor is run with the zh_CN.UTF-8 locale:
LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 gedit
the view flashes for a few seconds before it stabilizes. If the window loses and regains focus, the blinking resumes.
It seems that this can have more serious effects, which I can't reproduce: see https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=65769, which would give this (with Mousepad):
