Steps to reproduce
- Set the system font to Public Sans at 10pts using the Regular style using KDE Plasma's System Settings app.
- run
GTK_THEME=Adwaita gtk3-widget-factory
in a terminal emulator. - Look at the text in one of the editable single line controls.
Current behavior
Text is not vertically centered enough in editable single line controls with Public Sans at 10pts.
Expected outcome
Text should be more vertically centered in editable single line controls with Public Sans at 10pts.
Version information
- GTK version: 3.24.30
- Operating system: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210725
- Public Sans version: 1.008
Additional information
The font used in the following screenshots is Public Sans at 10pts. I'm using the TTF webfonts included in the archive file I downloaded from https://public-sans.digital.gov because the OTF fonts included in the same archive don't seem to have any hinting.

Firefox 90.0.1 with the Tree Style Tabs addon. I realize this isn't a real GTK app, but it seems to have the same problem and it does use some GTK theming. This is not an editable control, but it uses only a single line.
For comparison, this is how a Qt QLineEdit widget looks using the Fusion (left) and Breeze (right) QStyles.
