Keyboard commands not adapting to no non-qwerty layout in Wayland
Steps to reproduce
- Switch keyboard layout to Dvarok
- Sign in to a Wayland session
- Open a GTK app and enter a keyboard shortcut such as "Ctrl V". This will be read as "Ctrl .", opening an emoji pop up.
Current behavior
Keyboard shortcuts react as though the keyboard layout was Qwerty. Ctrl V opens a smiley window, Ctrl X sets bold text, etc.
Expected outcome
Keyboard shortcuts should adapt to change of keyboard layout, as it does in X.
Version information
libgtk-3-0:amd64 3.24.18-1ubuntu1
Ubuntu 20.04, upgraded, pretty much vanilla.
Additional information
Rebooting doesn't help.
Only happens in GTK apps. I've tested Nautilus, the Gnome terminal, Geary, Gedit, Gnome Weather, Gnome Maps, Gnome Software, and the calculator. Same problem across the board. Flatpak vs normal install doesn't matter.
I first reported the bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1876272 In case you need more system info.
