File chooser's focus is on search instead of filename when used as save dialog

Using Gnome on Debian, and trying to save some file somewhere, I find myself pretty often to 'search' for my filename instead of saving it. Apparently the 'search' input has the (default?) focus? To reproduce:

  • open a new file in for example gedit
  • ctrl-s to save
  • type name (to hit enter....)
  • instead of saved as filename, you have searched somewhere...

Would it not be more intuitive to have focus om filename there? So maybe a 'save' and an 'open' modus for the filechooser? For 'open' it is more obvious to start with focus on 'search'. But for 'save' I would put focus on filename.
