Restored window size larger than saved

Windows which save and restore their size become larger each time they are opened. I've reproduced this with:

• Firefox's file dialogs (opened by Ctrl+O or Ctrl+S)
• Gedit's file dialogs (opened by Ctrl+O or Ctrl+S)
• Gedit's main window

@jadahl I suspect this is a regression from !1606 (merged).
