Update menus to latest designs
On the design side we've been working on some updated designs for menus in GNOME. Mockups for these can be seen here.
The main changes in those mockups are:
-
Changing the background of popover menus to be white -
Showing keyboard shortcuts alongside menu items (when one is specified) -
Moving check boxes and radio buttons so that they are before the menu item label, rather than after -
Changing the style of the buttons at the top of popover menus to be simple outlines
I should note that the buttons at the top of the menus are something we're a bit unsure about at the moment. Once we've got the style change we'd like to do some usability testing on them, with a view to deciding whether to keep them as a recommended design pattern.
The mockups also contain the idea of being able to specify whether a popover menu should have a point or not. I think this is probably worthy of a separate issue, as it might require more thought.
