Better Working with Disk Images
So, i often work with Disk Images with GParted,
when i open a Disk Image directly
and try to copy e.g. a boot Partition or resize a Partition,
GParted looks for the Partition in the File ImageFile.img1
and fails to find the Image with the added Partition Suffix, File not found ImageFile.img1.
So, what i do is mount the Disk Image in a Loop Device
losetup -Pf ImageFile.img
and then would work with the Loop Device in GParted
The average User do not consider this method instantly,
and what i propose as an enhancement is that GParted
would mount the Disk Image transparent through losetup,
so the forementioned task is completed without extra commands and sucessfully for the average user. An Open Disk Image Menu Entry in the Devices Submenu could also contribute that Task.
Please ask for more information if i have not described that behavior thoroughly.
