Cannot copy text from Gnome Text Editor to Gnumeric

I sometimes copy datasets from text files to Gnumeric.
Previously, I was using Gedit and was copying/pasting into Gnumeric, that was working fine.
I recently tried to switch to Gnome Text Editor, but that does not work.
I can copy from Gnome Text Editor to Gedit and then to Gnumeric, but not directly from Gnome Text Editor to Gnumeric.
I am not sure if this is a Gnome Text Editor issue or a Gnumeric issue.
