performance: efficiency: weird system load from idle files, 'dead looping'?
Observed significant system load from files not doing anything meaningful.
A file provided below doesn't produce load when idle after opening,
copying e.g. col. C to col. F produces a significant peak of 100% ( one core )
CPU usage, normal,
but then there stays load ( here ~67% of what one core can do ) after the copy
is finished, that load is persistent, over wait, save, switch to other file,
undo the change ( file shown as unchanged, no * in head line ) ...
only closing the file ends the resource wasting.
See screenshots from 'top' below.
( The file itself is not meaningless, I'm trying to check performance of improved
power calculations. In that context: can someone help to catch start and end of sheet
recalculation, and display elapsed time somewhere in top or bottom bars? Or do we
have other timing options? )

gnumeric and goffice from within last week )
