Swap modifier keys [only in Terminal] (feature request)
Hello all,
I'd like to request a setting for Gnome Terminal, that allows modifier keys to be swapped. In particular, I would like Gnome Terminal to swap the Hyper and Ctrl keys. That is to say, if xkb sends Hyper, I would like Terminal to interpret that as Ctrl. When xkb sends Ctrl, I would like Terminal to interpret that as Hyper.
I am aware that in principle this can be achieved using xkb, using application-specific settings. However, xkb is not really user-extensible and - having tried to do this for several months - I'm still stuck with xkb. My progress is written down here https://github.com/bjohas/Ubuntu-keyboard-map-like-OS-X. While I keep pursuing this, it looks quite complicated in terms of upstream etc. Therefore, I am looking for a Terminal programme that allows swapping of modifier keys (as described). As I'm using Gnome, I thought this request to Gnome would be the first one I make. Obviously, if you are aware of a Terminal programme that has this feature, please let me know. (However, I'm very happy with Gnome termial, and would love for it to have this feature.)
Many thanks and looking forward to your thoughts!
