RTL Languages misbehavior in vte
We were having a friendly conversation over at the Ubuntu Community Discourse chatting about how RTL languages (Hebrew to be precise) and Portugese (With the Cedillias etc.) are confusing many users of these languages daily.
I don't want to repeat the whole conversation but we were wondering if there's a way to allow the terminal to display the glyphs where needed but assist with avoiding setting LC_ALL or LC_LANGUAGE to he_IL etc.
Although there are some ways to bypass this behavior in all sorts of ways through customized scripts we were not happy with the possible outcome as there will be no way for the user to opt-out in this situation.
So we were wondering if there's a way to add special tweaks/plugins to gnome-terminal to allow enforcing these settings for Ubuntu (although most users on most linux distros can benefit from it).
Thank you!
