Expand the number of featured applications
The featured applications which are shown as banners on the front page are the main "store window" for the platform. Currently, there are some issues with the set of featured apps, the main one being that there are only 12 apps in it.
Goals
The goal of the banners is to advertise apps that people might want to install, including:
- the best apps that the platform has to offer
- cool apps that people might not be aware of
- a good set of apps that are primarily designed and developed for the GNOME platform (particularly new ones)
- apps that are interesting to a large section of the user base (ie. not special purpose or highly technical apps)
- a good range of apps, covering different areas and interests
Proposed list of featured apps
Based on the above, here's a potential list of apps to feature:
-

Removals
The above list doesn't include the following, which are currently included:
-
Ardour (too technical) -
Blender (too technical) -
Firefox (often installed by default) -
Chess (Is this good? I don't know) -

Polari (debatable; possibly too specialised) -

What do you think, @jimmac ?
