Updates manager should trigger get-updates immediately when system was not booted for several days/weeks

Description
As far as I understand the update plugin in gnome-settings-daemon will only refresh/check for updates after 24 hour of uptime, as this is the default threshold.
I have a machine running Fedora 20, which I occasionally boot every month or so. I'll use this machine for a hour or so.
This machine will never get new updates via the update plugin, or does it?!
If not: It would be great if the update plugin, could check the time since the last update and if this is greater than several days, jut trigger the get-updates in PackageKit immediately.
