Automatic updates skipped on network error

I'm on a laptop on a wi-fi with a captive portal, and gnome-software never announces updates or updates anything.

Fedora 34 Silverblue, gnome-software-40.2-2.fc34.x86_64

If I open the Updates tab manually, the Flatpak updates are there, and they even seem to be updating fine if I trigger it manually.
