User desktop entries use file name instead of Name value
My desktop entries in ~/.local/share/applications/
appear in GNOME Shell's app search based on the spelling of the .desktop file name, rather than the value of the Name
key.
So if I create a desktop entry named foo-bar.desktop
, containing Name=Foo Bar
, it appears in the app search as "foo-bar" instead of "Foo Bar".
This only applies to my user-local desktop entries. System desktop entries like /usr/share/applications/foo-bar.desktop
and /.../org.foo.bar
still appear in app searches as "Foo Bar" like they should.
I'm currently using GNOME Shell 3.28.3 on Fedora 28 Workstation x86_64. Let me know if you need any other information to troubleshoot this issue.
