No proper way to start multiple instances of applications anymore
I am referring to the (now closed and merged) issue #316 (closed) that changed the behaviour of middle-click on dash icons. While I see the underlying ratio, it is

cumbersome: Take, for example, gnome-calculator. I like to use more than one of them frequently. It cannot open multiple windows, so the default behaviour now is to focus the current window. The only option to really open another one is via Alt-F2... This should not be necessary IMHO.

confusing to non tech-savy people: Compare this with gedit. It opens both tabs and new windows. A casual user will most likely not care whether two windows are services by the same instance of gedit or not. He might, however, care to "just get another one".
TL;DR: This distinction - while based on technical terms - seems arbitrary and confisung under everyday use.
My proposal is to keep underlying semantics but change UI representation: Have one user action (like Ctrl-click or Middle-click) that "just gets another one". (And while we're at it, a shortcut for "get another one on a new, fresh workspace" would also be nice.)
