Login bypass on wakeup
After a wake-up, where the screen was frozen (see bug 753678), I managed to bypass the login screen and get a direct access to the desktop, by force-restarting the shell.
Edit: By "direct access", I mean here that I'm able to use the desktop (gnome-shell) without any limitations and also access my files and all applications that were running prior to sleep, as if I logged back in.
I used the following command twice in another tty: killall -1 gnome-shell
Some more (maybe useful) infos about my system:
$ gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 3.28.1
$ uname -a
Linux LapPasTop 4.15.0-22-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 16 12:15:17 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ lsb_release --all
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release: 18.04
Codename: bionic
$ journalctl -b 0 /usr/bin/gnome-shell > gnome-shell.log
$ journalctl -b 0 /usr/bin/gnome-session > gnome-session.log
gnome-session.log gnome-shell.log syslog
PS: I cleaned up a bit the logs in order to show only the relevant part (1h before sleep and ~20min after wakeup, when I retrieved the logs).
