Gnome-shell crash
First a little about me. I help out with Fedora QA. I started in March; so I am new to Fedora and gnome testing. Though I have been a Fedora user for 6 years. Please pardon my silly questions and mistakes as we go along.
A few weeks ago I encountered some gjs crashes while doing Core Applications testing for Fedora 28. This testing involves each application that comes with the stardard install for Fedora Workstation. One at a time, each application is started some basic "dead or alive" testing is done, then the application is exited, and the cycle continues with the next application. The crashes were not consistent with a given application. This is all in gjs issue 148. Philip and Kalev were kind enough to help me learn what I needed to know to get crash information for them, and Kalve provided a fix for gjs that worked. After I incorporated that, I was still getting crashes, but this time for Gnome-Shell. Philip continued helping me gather data. Today I got results where Philip suggested that I should go ahead and file a gnome-shell issue.
at the beginning, I was testing under Wayland, but for the last several times, I have logged in with Gnome-Xorg instead.
I have attached the latest data files. here are the commands I used to get the files: (gdb.txt and stderr.txt)
$ pidof gnome-shell
result of 3732
$ gdb 2>stderr.log
(gdb) set logging on
(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) attach 3732
(gdb) catch signal 11
(gdb) commands
> call gjs_dumpstack()
> t a a bt full
> print loc
> print *loc
> cont
> end
(gdb) continue
At this point I went back from the VT to the gnome-shell and started my Core Applications testing to reproduce the crash.
