GNOME Shell uses a lot of RAM after heavy use why ??

after a heavy usage of Ubuntu I can notice that GNOME Shell uses a lot of memory around 0.5GB of RAM

even after I close all applications it still uses this huge amount of RAM please address this issue image

as seen in this screenshot GNOME Shell uses more RAM than any application

I'm using GNOME 3.30 on Ubuntu 18.10
