Gnome Shell crashes or just exits, without anything in logs.
Affected version
Without any extensions. gnome 45 - newest from ArchLinux
Bug summary
Gnome Shell just exits... often. There are no logs - I searched journalctl -xe for anything looking like stack trace, or error message - nothing. Dmesg is also empty.
Steps to reproduce
I use single monitor. It happens when I switch applications or desktops. I had today opened only firefox, signal and audacious on second desktop. Audacious was playing a music. I wanted to change file played, used 3 fingers swipe to switch desktop, then everything went dark. Yesterday I wanted to switch audio output when playing Baldur's Gate 3 and everything went dark right after I pressed Super key. Sometimes this happens after Super+Tab.
I can't find steps to reproduce - the only thing common is switching applications.
It may be unrelated but when I right click on image and then left click "copy image" in firefox or in brave same thing happens - just black text screen and then gdm shows up asking me to login. This happens every time. Without any extensions. Always reproducible. No logs.
What happened
It looks like I was forcibly logged out of gnome shell. GDM showed up. There was no virtual console present with my gnome-session, usually it's number 2 or 3.
What did you expect to happen
No crash or forced logout. At least some information in logs about what is wrong. I'm not even sure that it was gnome-shell that crashed.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
I could not find any logs regarding these events. It looks like just new session was started or gdm reloaded.
