Alt-Tab brings all the windows of an app to the front, usually users need only the last used window of an app.
GNOME 44.3, 45beta1 (probably any previous GNOME version), Arch Linux, no extra monitors.
I have this confusing behavior of Alt-Tab with bringing to the front all the instances of an app.
- Consider we got a 2-3 (a lot) of instances of an app like gedit or console, in the worst case - some are maximized.
- Trying to switch with alt-tab from another app like browser to this app to copy-paste or compare something.
- It brings all the instances of gedit to the front covering the browser with not-needed at the moment another maximized gedit.
- (In this case you need to minimize all unnecessary app windows, but boom, by default GNOME doesn't have 'minimize' button.)
It all confuses me every time (even though I have 'minimize' button).
I wish it would return only the last used gedit window. Does a user need all the instances of an app at this moment?
The closest desired behavior is Alt-Escape (switch windows directly), but this is not standard and is not intuitive especially for new users.
