When using the touchscreen, the (invisible) main cursor can cause surprising behaviour
- Product: Gnome Shell 3.28.3
- Distribution: Fedora 28 (64 bit)
- How reproducible: always
Summary:
This is a particularly annoying bug when using a laptop in tablet mode. The issue seems to be that the the main cursor (mouse or touchpad) is not properly disabled when using the touchscreen (although the "arrow" becomes invisible) and can interfere with the use of the touchscreen. Here I show an example where it causes one workspace to be apparently "stuck" in the workspace selector, but it might also cause issues elsewhere.
Screencast:

Note that the cursor is invisible to the user between 0:06 and 0:29, although it is still recorded on the screencast (which is a good thing here actually: this is what allowed me to reproduce this seemingly random bug).
Steps to reproduce this specific example:
- Open the overview.
- Move the cursor to the edge of the workspace selector until the workspace selector opens.
- Forget about the cursor and try to use the workspace selector using the touchscreen only.
(My initial bug report makes a cameo in the screencast :-) )
