Bursts of high CPU usage after triggering overview (Sysprof recording attached)
Gnome-Shell 43 (Wayland), Ubuntu 22.10, Hardware: Dell XPS 13 9310 2-in-1
I've been using version 43 the last weeks and noticed, that there are often situations where I'm doing light work and the fan of my laptop kicks in. When looking at the CPU usage in that situations, I can watch gnome shell hogging 80% of one core without me doing anything apart from watching top in the terminal. When I wait for some time, cpu usage settles again only to come up again if I trigger activities overview and remain high for some time.
From my experience it is somehow related to firefox (only a few tabs and no heavy website being active) being opened on another workspace. When I trigger overview without switching to the workspace, gnome-shell cpu goes through the roof.
I have multiple sysprof recordings of such situations:
gnome-shell-idle-80-video.syscap gnome-shell-idle-80-video2.syscap
See here for a video of the situation immediately before I started the first sysprof recording:
