wg-quick managed wireguard connection shows in right corner menu
Affected version
Arch Linux, GNOME Shell 43.
Bug summary
I have an always-on WireGuard VPN connection that is not managed by NetworkManager (I use wg-quick service and start it with systemd), after upgrading to GNOME 43, it shows VPN icon on right corner, and in the menu, VPN button is blue and shows wg0
, and if I click that tag, it will try to stop my wireguard and failed. I think this is confusing because it is not a NetworkManager-managed connection, and if I show the VPN list in the menu, wg0
is not here, so it should not enable this button.
Steps to reproduce
- use wg-quick to start a systemd managed wireguard connection.
- check the right corner menu.
What happened
The VPN button is on, and shows wg0
, but you cannot find it in the menu because it's not managed by NetworkManager.
What did you expect to happen
Just don't show this, because NetworkManager should not touch my systemd-managed connection.
