Returned to login screen first time monitor input changed
Affected version
- gnome-shell-43~rc-3.fc37.x86_64
- mutter-43~rc-1.fc37.x86_64
- Fedora 37 beta.
Only tested in Wayland.
Bug summary
My monitor is plugged into two machines: one running Fedora 37 with GNOME on its DisplayPort, and a Mac Mini on its HDMI port. The monitor is a Samsung LU32H850UMUXEN. If I switch its input from the Fedora machine to the Mac, and then switch back, I am presented with the GDM login screen upon my return. The GNOME session is still running -- if I log in I get my session back.
This only happens once per session, at the first input change cycle. This did not happen with GNOME 42.
The Fedora machine has an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G APU on amdgpu.
Steps to reproduce
- Log in to GNOME desktop.
- Switch monitor input to something else, then back again.
What happened
I was returned to the GDM login screen (only on first attempt).
What did you expect to happen
The session be presented back to me as it was before switching inputs (happens on subsequent attempts).
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
[Not sure what to look out for here -- will post anything that looks suspicious from journalctl --user if it shows up.]
